PUBLISHING
We work with writers and creatives to turn manuscripts into professionally published books. Not vanity publishing. Not print-on-demand with clip-art covers. Proper publishing—the kind where design matters, typography matters, and your work gets treated like it deserves.
Through our distribution partnerships with Amazon and international networks, your book reaches readers globally while you maintain creative control and fair royalties.
HOW WE WORK: The Process

1. Manuscript Evaluation
Submit your completed manuscript. We read it. If it fits our list—culturally ambitious work that contributes something meaningful—we'll get back to you within two weeks. We're selective, but not for snobbery's sake. We only take on projects we can genuinely support and distribute effectively.

2. Editorial Consultation
If your manuscript needs structural editing or copyediting, we'll connect you with professionals who understand your work. This step is optional but recommended. Our role: making sure the book is ready for professional production.

3. Design & Typesetting
This is where most self-published books fail. Amateur typography and generic covers kill good writing.
-
Professional typesetting (proper fonts, spacing, page layout)
-
Cover design by experienced designers
-
Interior layout that serves readability
-
Print specifications for quality production
-
Digital formatting for e-readers
You approve every stage. This is collaboration, not dictation.

4. Production
Print and digital formats prepared simultaneously:
-
Print books: Professional trade paperback or hardcover production
-
E-books: Properly formatted EPUB and MOBI files
-
PDFs: High-resolution files for special editions or promotional use
We coordinate with printers and digital platforms. You receive author copies for approval before public release.

5. Distribution
Your book goes live through:
-
Amazon (print and Kindle)
-
International wholesale distribution
-
Direct sales through Sub Rosa Studio
-
Special distribution for institutional or bulk orders
We handle ISBNs, copyright registration, and all distribution logistics. Your book is discoverable and available globally.

6. Marketing Support
We provide:
-
Professional product listings with proper metadata
-
Social media announcement support
-
Press release template and media list
-
Author bio and promotional materials
-
Listing in Sub Rosa Studio catalog
What we don't do: Guarantee bestseller status or pay for advertising. Marketing success depends on the work connecting with readers. We give you professional foundations; momentum comes from the quality of what you've written.

WHAT WE PUBLISH
Literary Fiction & Poetry
Work that takes language seriously. Experimental forms welcome if they serve the content.

Cultural Criticism & Essays
Sharp thinking about art, music, film, society. Writing that contributes to conversation.

Artist Monographs & Creative Non-Fiction Books by and about artists, musicians, filmmakers. Process-focused, intellectually rigorous.

Photography & Visual Books I
mage-driven publications where design and production quality are essential.

Hybrid & Multimedia Projects
Books that integrate text with visual elements, audio components, or digital extensions.

If your work connects to visual art, music, or film projects, we can facilitate those connections. Soundtracks, exhibitions, multimedia releases—we work across disciplines.

We're not processing manuscripts through an automated system. Each book is a multi-year relationship. We want your second book, your third book, your entire body of work.

What We Don't Publish

-
Genre fiction (thriller, romance, sci-fi) unless it genuinely transcends category
-
Self-help or business books
-
Memoir without broader cultural relevance
-
Academic texts better suited for university presses
-
Books written primarily for niche family/friends audiences
Not judgments on quality—just outside our editorial focus and distribution strengths.
